Job Title: Social Media Manager

Hours: 5-10 hours a week (to start)

Location: Remote (DFW preferred, see below)

Job Summary — 

Is social media your thing? Are you outgoing, with a positive can-do attitude? Do you have a smartphone and high speed internet access? If so, we want to hear from you! 

We are looking for a talented Social Media Manager to join our team on a part time contract basis. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for implementing our social media strategy to grow our audience and achieve our marketing and sales goals. This is a flexible remote position — work how you want, when you want, where you want. The ideal candidate is someone who loves and uses our Journal, identifies with our mission, and is a social media pro!

Responsibilities & Duties — 

    • Adhere to all brand guidelines
    • Adopt brand voice
    • Follow social media and marketing strategy
    • Provide feedback and give input during monthly strategy planning sessions
    • Stay up to date with current social media tools, trends and hashtags
    • Use Planoly to plan out Instagram posts 1-2 weeks in advance
      • Select photos from archive (the social media manager will NOT be responsible for taking or editing photos)
      • Arrange grid of photos in an aesthetically pleasing way
      • Write captions for posts
      • Research hashtags for posts based on topic/target demographic
      • Schedule relevant hashtags
    • Use Planoly to plan out Instagram stories 1-2 weeks in advance
      • Upload relevant slides (the social media manager will NOT be responsible for designing slides)
      • Write captions for all videos
      • Post Instagram posts as per marketing schedule
      • Post Instagram stories as per marketing schedule
      • Reply to all Instagram comments and DMs
      • Post all Instagram posts on Facebook
        • Editing format as needed
        • Reply to all Facebook comments
        • Spend time on Instagram daily interacting with other accounts, liking and commenting on photos that are consistent with our brand ideals
        • Monitor and evaluate metrics across all channels
          • Give recommendations for improvements across all channels
          • Report findings monthly
          • Establish a presence on Pinterest
          • Other Pinterest duties TBD

              • Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills
              • Love of all things social media
              • Outgoing personality
              • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude

          Preferred (nice to have, but not a deal-breaker) —

              • Local to the DFW metro and available to attend in-person meetings (~ 2 a month)
              • Own a Journal, use and love it
              • Experience in marketing and/or social media
              • Understanding of social media metrics
              • Experience with photography
              • Experience using Pinterest for Business
              • Experience using Planoly and Tailwind
